Seoul Gypsy: Korean craft beer in Seosulla-gil, Hannam and Seochon

Goocheop한국어 원문

A beer after a walk along Seosulla-gil. Dinner after exploring Hannam. Pizza and beer to end a day in Seochon. Seoul Gypsy welcomes travelers in three neighborhoods, each with different food and a different space.

The beer they brew connects all three. But the same name does not mean the same menu. Choose a branch based on where you are exploring and what food and beer you would like to enjoy.

Discovering Korean ingredients through beer

Seoul Gypsy began on Seosulla-gil in 2017. It started with “gypsy brewing”: making beer using other breweries' facilities before establishing its own brewery. The name carries that early history of moving between breweries. How Seoul Gypsy began

The brewery continues to explore Korean regional ingredients. Its Seoul Country Lager, released in September 2026, uses corn from Bonghwa, oats from Naju and organic green citrus from Jeju. The brewery describes an initial fermentation with lager yeast, followed by another with wild yeast from the citrus peel. The brewery's release notes

For a visitor to Korea, this is another way to taste the country: discovering ingredients grown here through the familiar form of beer.

That is why Goocheop introduces Seoul Gypsy. Rather than declaring it the trendiest place in town, you can experience what Korea's food and drink makers are trying and bringing to the table.

Seoul Gypsy Seosulla-gil · 서울집시 서순라길점

A walk beside Jongmyo's stone wall, then a beer where it all began

Seosulla-gil is where Seoul Gypsy started. According to the brand, the team renovated an old hanok, a traditional Korean house, that had been used as an electrical company's warehouse. Opening up the covered ceiling revealed a courtyard and views of Jongmyo's trees. The people making the beer also laid floors and painted the space. The story of the space

Here, the alley is part of the experience. Walk beside the stone wall of Jongmyo, the shrine honoring Joseon kings and queens where ancestral rites are held, then sit down for a beer with the wall in view. It is a distinctive setting for a drink during your trip.

The food brings spices into familiar dishes. A visitor's account from July 2026 includes Vietnamese-style coriander chicken wings and Sichuan-style ragù pasta. Alongside chicken and pasta with coriander and Sichuan-style seasoning, you can enjoy Seoul Gypsy's own locally brewed craft beer. Visitor's account

Seoul Gypsy Hannam · 서울집시 한남점

Spice-led dishes and beer in Hannam's backstreets

If you are exploring Hannam, this branch can fit into your day. It is within walking distance of Hangangjin Station, in a narrow alley off the main road, according to the store's directions. Location information

The food draws on cooking styles from several regions. Visitor accounts describe Lebanese-style cream cheese with lamb keema, Indonesian-style fried chicken with sambal, and Thai-style pork hock salad. Instead of organizing the menu around one national cuisine, the kitchen explores a wider range of dishes to eat with beer. Food account · Recent visit

Think of Hannam not as the place for Seoul Gypsy's pizza, but as a table of dishes built around spices and sauces, with beers to choose alongside them. Seoul Gypsy's food and beer can add more variety to your day in Hannam.

Seoul Gypsy Fermenteria, Seochon · 서울집시 퍼멘테리아 서촌점

Where beer fermentation meets pizza dough

Pizza and beer are a familiar pairing. What makes the Seochon branch worth a closer look is how it makes the two.

Seoul Gypsy says it uses a fermentation starter cultivated with its own “seed beer” in the pizza dough. A starter is a culture of microorganisms grown to ferment dough. The team also mills malt, an ingredient in beer, and Baekkang wheat each morning for the flour blend. Beer and pizza meet not just on the menu, but in their ingredients and fermentation. Official newsletter

Visitor accounts mention crisp dough, lamb and spice toppings, and mushroom pizza. They also describe dipping the crust into harissa ricotta. The large windows bring in daylight: a setting for an afternoon with a pizza and a beer. Pizza and space

At Seochon, you can explore how the brewers' interests extend into food. We introduce it not simply because you can eat pizza in Seoul, but because you can experience this brewery's beer-making through its food as well.

Before you visit

Seoul Gypsy is a place to enjoy beer. Its official notice says ordering food is optional, but each person must order a beer. It asks groups with someone who cannot drink alcohol to choose another venue, so do not plan on it as a food-only restaurant. Official visitor policy

The dishes described here come from official descriptions and visitor accounts at the time of their visits. Some dishes may overlap between branches, and menus can change with the season. A beer release does not guarantee that it will be available on the day you go. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, ask about ingredients before ordering.

Hours checked on 3 October 2026. These are regular opening hours; check the branch's notice for public holidays and temporary closures. All three branches list 15:00–23:00 for Hangeul Day, 9 October 2026.
